Ben Thompson – Free Agent

Position – Central Midfield

Eyebrows were raised when 26-year-old Ben Thompson signed for Gillingham in the winter window, and had they not been relegated I wager he’d perhaps have penned a new deal there. However, they were, and that leaves the lifelong Millwall man as a free agent and hunting a new club. Again, he’s a central midfielder (have you noticed a theme here), who has 142 senior outings to his name for Millwall and won promotion from League One five years ago.

He played all over the place for Gillingham, who doubtless wish they could have cloned him in their fight for survival, and he’s a player I thought looked good for them as they beat us at our place earlier in the year. My gut feeling is he’ll find a club in the south (Charlton maybe) but there’s no doubt he’d be a good signing for us.
