Ten Free Agents That Could Still Make a League One Move This Season

Kortney Hause

Having come through youth systems at West Ham United, Birmingham City and Wycombe Wanderers, Kortney Hause has built his senior career primarily as a centre-back, with spells also covering left-back. He is 30 and first established himself in the EFL with Wycombe before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2014, where he went on to make more than 60 league appearances. During his time at Wolves he also spent a loan period at Gillingham, gaining regular League One minutes, before becoming part of the Wolves side that progressed up the divisions.

Hause joined Aston Villa initially on loan in January 2019 and made the move permanent following their promotion to the Premier League later that year, going on to score notable league goals, including a late winner against Manchester United in 2021. His later years at Villa were disrupted by long-term knee issues, including a brief loan to Watford that was curtailed by injury. After an extended absence from competitive football and a period training with Villa’s Under-21 side, he was released at the end of his contract in summer 2025 and is now available as a free agent, having also represented England at Under-20 and Under-21 level earlier in his career.
