5. Stafford Rangers 2-1 Imps 92/93
Unbeaten in seven, City had struggled to get past Stafford in the First Round at the Bank. A 0-0 draw was underwhelming, but we expected to win the reply.
Stafford had former Aston Villa winger Nigel Callaghan, who was a talisman for them, but even at 1-1, we seemed to be decent value. Then Graham Bressington was sent off, and the ten men of City crashed out.
Stafford were fourth from bottom in the Conference, and they drew Marine in the next round, a winnable tie for us. Not for them, as they were beaten 3-2 by the Northern Premier League side, who were the lowest-ranked in the Third Round.
