Having put four past Bracknell in the First Round, City felt a home tie against Dagenham was winnable. They’d only joined the Conference the season before from the Isthmian League, so they felt like easy pickings.
Not so. They scored a last-gasp goal after Matthew Ghent’s error, but we only had Ghent to thank for keeping it at 0-0.
Their reward was a home tie against Charlton, before Charlton turned average.
