#9 – Joe Morrell (2019–20)

Often overlooked due to the season being COVID-curtailed, Joe Morrell was immense during his loan spell from Bristol City. Initially joining a packed midfield, Morrell emerged as the anchor after Danny Cowley’s departure. Tough-tackling, industrious, and deceptively clever in possession, he made 36 appearances, picked up 11 bookings, and became the heartbeat of a team in transition.
His call-up for Wales while at City added to his profile, and he left a lasting impression despite never receiving a proper send-off. Had the season run its full course, we would have seen him given Player of the Season, for which he was a shoo-in.
