Lee O’Connor (Celtic)
20-year-old O’Connor is a right-back, a position we will almost certainly need cover for over the summer. Therein lies the first problem – would we sign a young player on loan purely for cover? Remember Robbie Gotts? He was a big signing at the time, but never got a chance to prove himself as all he did was cover. On the left, Edun and Bramall cover each other, but the right is an area we look quite bare. Some have suggested Regan Poole could play central defence and leave room for a new face.
O’Connor has been capped by Ireland, started his career with Manchester United and is currently on the books of Celtic. They loaned him to Tranmere Rovers last season in League Two, where he played 37 times. I think looking to successful loans in League Two is an indication of who might be available in League One, and O’Connor was well-liked by Tranmere fans.
