Jamie Clapham
UEFA Cup (2001/02 & 2002/03)
There can’t be many Lincoln-born players who played both for the Imps and in Europe, but here is one.
Clapham was part of the Ipswich Town side that competed in the UEFA Cup in consecutive seasons following their surprise Premier League stint under George Burley. He featured in ties against teams like Torpedo Moscow and Helsingborgs, gaining valuable experience at a high level.
After all that, Clapham had a spell at Sincil Bank. It wasn’t quite the Sam Clucas-style welcome he’d perhaps hoped for, especially not as he was a part of the 2010/11 side that ended up getting relegated.
Jason Lee
UEFA Cup (1995/96)
Jason Lee featured in the 1995/96 UEFA Cup with Nottingham Forest, playing in the same side as David Phillips, one that reached the quarter-finals before falling to Bayern Munich. Lee scored during their campaign, adding European pedigree to a career that was often defined by his time in the Premier League and the Football League.
Prior to his rise to prominence, he got started at Sincil Bank, joining from Charlton and scoring 21 league goals in 93 outings. After leaving us for Southend, Lee’s career blossomed, including stints at Watford and Peterborough United.
