Lincoln City have appointed former Peterborough United figure Bobby Copping as the club’s new head of commercial.
Copping arrives at the Bank with a growing reputation for innovation and engagement in the football business world, following a premature end to his playing career in 2021. At just 19, the defender was forced to retire after suffering two mini seizures, but he’s since forged a successful off-pitch path in the game.
Progressive Appointment For Progressive Times
The Imps’ newest addition brings with him a varied CV that includes roles within Peterborough’s commercial department, a spell as general manager of their women’s team, and work supporting young players as a personal development mentor with League Football Education.
He’s also co-founder of the Bobby Copping Foundation, set up to provide mental health and wellbeing support to young athletes.
Jason Futers, City’s chief growth and innovation officer, welcomed the appointment:
“Bobby brings a remarkable breadth of experience and is a really exciting addition to our team. He has an outstanding track record of delivering commercial growth, focusing on developing close relationships with our club partners and delivering massive value.
“While the initial focus is very much on exploring opportunities for the coming season, Bobby has exciting ideas for fan engagement and strategic commercial growth over time, so we’re delighted to welcome him at such a progressive time for the club.”
Copping joins the club during a period of significant development, as Lincoln City continue to build on the Family Excellence Award and recent recognition for their work in supporter engagement.
