At the end of last season, I concluded that we’d only need one signing in one position to be a decent outfit in League One once again.
A week into pre-season training, and three days shy of our first friendly, we’re still looking for that player at left back. We could go out right now and be competitive, aside from our lack of a left-back.
My gut feeling is we’re looking to buy someone, and that is what is taking the time. However, it could be we’re negotiating with a free agent, and I’m not talking about pie-in-the-sky rumours around Harry Toffolo either. Toff is a great player, but he’ll end up on five figures in the Championship.
Who will we end up with? Time will tell, but there are a handful of players on the free agent list that might pique the interest of the club.
Here are nine free agents, a mix of former Imps, players with Premier League experience, a former Leeds United youngster, a player with five seasons of Eredivisie experience and a wildcard from the NIFL Premiership.
