Yep, back in Ireland. Higgins is a coach I mentioned on the podcast last night, and his numbers are impressive. Derry are second only to Shamrock in terms of both xG, and xG conceded in Ireland this season, and play a possession-based game that is easy on the eye.
Higgins, who was chief scout for Ireland’s international setup, prefers a 4-2-3-1 formation and won the FAI Cup in 2022, followed by the President’s Cup in 2023. They were also runner-up to Shamrock last season, and given they’ve only won the title twice in their history, that’s no mean feat.
