Jim Goodwin – Dundee United
James Forrest gets a slap in the mush against Alloa in the 2016 LC tie at Parkhead. Look closely you'll see it's Jim Goodwin. Celtic went on to win final by beating Motherwell, Rangers, and Aberdeen but the hardest tie of them all was that night against Alloa. pic.twitter.com/it7qiHzlRz

Jim Goodwin was a manager on a real upward curve. The 41-year-old led Alloa to the Scottish Championship in 2018/19, then avoided relegation from the Championship despite being part time. He was headhunted by St Mirren, winning the Scottish League Cup with them. Aberdeen then met his release clause, and it all went a bit sour – a tough run saw him sacked after a 6-0 defeat against Hibs.
He’s at Dundee United now and only signed a permanent deal there in the summer, so he would have a chunky released clause. However, his side are top of the table and sit second for xG, xG conceded and possession.
