1st September – Run 3 – 2.49 Miles (52.53m to go)
My third run, but an absence of two days, which was really frustrating. This weekend is packed – the Badlands Punk Festival in Lincoln is going on, but with the short week, Sheff Utd and me needing to be in Lincoln every day, time has been at a premium. Squeezing this in when I did meant I chipped away a little at the total.
I didn’t feel great on ther run to be honest – it felt rushed and since Tuesday I’ve barely seen Fe. I might sound a bit slushy, but I really appreciate my time at home. Some people get driven crazy by the same four walls, but I need those evenings in front of the TV to recharge. I’ll definitely need it after this weekend, as some of you who saw my drunken livestream last night will know!
Now, some mental health stuff. Last night, before hitting the ale, I felt a lack of motivation – but getting out with my mates was brilliant. Having a laugh, taking the mick, it’s all good for the soul. Friends are so important, especially those who do not judge, and so today I suggest this. If you’re going through a tough time, why not just reach out to a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while? It might be a couple of weeks, or months, but think about someone you have a lot of time for who you haven’t spoken to in a while, and just drop them a message and say hi.
It’s easy to create your own mental prison. It’s common to feel trapped and isolated, but the good thing about a prison you build yourself is it is easy to escape. Running helps, hence me running 60 miles for CALM, but connections help as well. You might find your mind locks you down, but you do have all the keys to the doors.
