Possible Signing This Week: Who Might Be In The Frame?

Ross McCormack

This is a real long shot! Who knows though, right? After all, McCormack will know Liam Bridcutt from either their time together playing for Scotland, or their brief spell as teammates at Nottingham Forest.

McCormack might not be familiar to everyone, but he’s been around a fair bit. he’s played for Fulham, Aston Villa, Leeds and Cardiff. He’s been involved in transfers in excess of £10m (Leeds to Fulham and Fulham to Aston Villa) but has fallen from grace of late. There are all sorts of reasons why this transfer wouldn’t work, wages being one of them, but if MA feels we needed cover he might like to have someone with experience.

McCormack would certainly offer a robust presence up front and his 14 goals in 17 games in 2017/18 in Australia show he does still have it. Admittedly, he doesn’t fit the bill at all, but he’s a striker and a free agent.

  1. Speculate away, Gary. As ever, a read as fascinating as the context is baffling. It feels like David Holdsworth all over again. “He’s got two legs. Sign him.”

  2. Blimey! David Holdsworth. That was desperate patching of holes in a sinking ship by a man of many patches. We are now recruiting for a voyage of discovery. Anyway, nice to hear from you Mike!
