League One Latest: Reading Man Banned, Huddersfield Town Suffer Promotion Setback

Deadline day fallout, managerial speculation shut down, injury concerns, and FA sanctions all feature in the latest round of League One headlines. With the transfer window now closed and attention turning back to the pitch, there has been no shortage of talking points across the division.

Barnsley boss reacts to late transfer blow

Barnsley FC were left weakened by a late deadline day departure, despite adding a replacement on loan.

The Tykes confirmed the sale of key attacker Davis Keillor-Dunn to Wrexham on deadline day, depriving head coach Conor Hourihane of one of his most productive players at a crucial point in the season.

Speaking ahead of Barnsley’s clash with Bolton Wanderers, Hourihane admitted the timing was far from ideal, even if he understood the player’s move.

“We’re disappointed to lose one of your best players. He’s a top player for the level and he’s scored numerous goals for me at the club since he arrived from Mansfield. It’s a fantastic opportunity for Davo and you can’t begrudge him it, but it was late in the window, of course.”

Barnsley did bring in striker Tom Bradshaw on loan from Oxford United for the remainder of the campaign, although he was ineligible for their 2-2 draw with Northampton Town in midweek. That result leaves the Tykes 14th in League One, albeit with several games in hand on teams above them.
