League One Latest: Reading Man Banned, Huddersfield Town Suffer Promotion Setback

FA sanctions Reading staff member over homophobic comment

Reading FC assistant kitman Richard Bone has received a six-match stadium ban following an FA investigation.

The Football Association confirmed Bone admitted a charge relating to a homophobic comment directed towards referee Matt Corlett during Reading’s League One fixture against Huddersfield Town in August 2025.

An independent Regulatory Commission found the incident constituted an aggravated breach of FA Rule E3, resulting in a stadium suspension, a £200 fine and mandatory education.

Reading backed the outcome of the process in a club statement.

“The club respects and supports the outcome of the regulatory commission process and acknowledges the importance of maintaining the highest standards of conduct within the game.”

The club added that Bone has accepted responsibility and will undertake the required education programme as part of the sanction.
