Roofe progressed through West Bromwich Albion’s academy before a sequence of lower-league loans led to a breakout spell at Oxford United. A prolific 2015–16 campaign propelled Michael Appleton’s Oxford to promotion and earned individual recognition, showcasing sharp movement, precise finishing and an ability to decide big matches.
The step up to Leeds United brought a broader role across the front line, where versatility and pressing complemented a rising goal output, including a run that made him the club’s top scorer in 2017–18 and a key figure in Marcelo Bielsa’s early tenure.
A move to Anderlecht maintained his strike rate, and a transfer to Rangers brought silverware and memorable moments in Europe. Injuries punctuated later seasons: a short stint with Derby County followed in 2025 as he worked back to fitness, and he is now a free agent.
