Last season, we were heavily linked with Sol Brynn, a keeper who ended up on loan at Orient, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we’re not now keeping tabs on a teammate of his on Teeside, Zach Hemming. If this were to be done, I think it would be permanent – Hemming is 24, and there’s an element of the ‘Alex Palmer’ about him.
He’s 6ft 2in, and last season he kept 10 clean sheets in the SPFL as his side qualified for Europe – bear in mind, he faced the third-most number of shots in the division. He feels like the sort of keeper who might be looking for his next challenge; in 21/22, he was with Kilmarnock, keeping 15 clean sheets in 36 appearances and named Young Player of the Year.
He was also selected as the Scottish Championship’s goalkeeper in the Team of the Season for that campaign.
