4: Ipswich Town 1-0 (A) 8.10

Ipswich, our first opponents of 2023, are one of the best teams in the division, laden with talent and options from the bench. They’re flying high, so our visit to Portman Road earlier this season looked daunting. Bearing in mind, we’d drawn 0-0 with Charlton in the world’s worst football game a week earlier; few expected us to grab anything from this encounter.
That stats say we shouldn’t have – our early goal was one of just two efforts we had on target the whole game, but it gave us something to fight for, and fight we did. Ipswich were relentless, but we restricted them to pot shots and half efforts. It was a performance of grit, determination and fight, and quite rightly goes down as one of the best of 2022.
