The Peterborough Link – Who’s in the frame?

Matthew Stevens

Stevens is a centre forward who made his name at Barnet before becoming another of those speculative signings by Posh in 2016. his record at Barnet wasn’t amazing, but his talent persuaded them to part with cash for his services.

As a former amateur boxer, Stevens is a tough cookie, but in recent loan spells with Kettering and Slough Town he’s proven to be deadly in front of goal too. He’s only 20 and would operate in the sort of role McCartan does now, or more advanced not unlike Matt Green.

Likelihood: 8/10

The chances here are backed by lots of circumstance. Firstly, he’ll know John Akinde and vice versa. Also, we know Danny’s Dad studies the game in the south and reports back, he could well have come across Stevens playing for Slough and compiled a report.

The stumbling block is whether Posh would let him go until they’ve signed another striker.
