1: JJ McKiernan recall and loan
JJ McKiernan is struggling at Burton. He’s had a persistent hamstring injury, and after coming on against Blackpool in November for his first outing in a month, is back on the sidelines.
Burton are going to do what Burton do and churn that squad, that’s my hunch. If they do, could it be our man gets left behind? Maybe, maybe not, but one wonders if we might bring him back here and treat him ourselves.
There is a feeling JJ wanted the move in the summer, but he hasn’t got the games he would have expected. I wonder if a recall and treatment here might work, with a view to either a League Two loan at the end of the window or, should it shut before he gets fit, something at Boston or Morecambe.
It would be a step down, but getting him regular minutes in a team focused on him as the big cheese might be the boost he needs to kick on back here in the summer. Or, if we’re promoted, it could raise his profile for a summer sale.
