Five Things The Might Happen At Lincoln City This Transfer Window

2: Wide attacker signs on loan

With James Collins injured, there has been a clamour for us to sign a striker. I don’t think that’s the priority, Rob Street plays down the middle, as does Freddie Draper and Ben House when he is fit. We have Obikwu on loan, and while some aren’t convinced on the Coventry loanee (guilty), they are all liked by Michael Skubala, the coach who has put us second in the league, so I’ll trust his judgement.

That said, if Street is a central option, we’re light on the flanks, and a signing like Gardner could, in my opinion, be a big lift for us. I’m not even sure it’s someone we need to start games as we have Reeco, Erik Ring, Dom Jefferies and eventually House, as well as Street, who I like in the middle, but it might be nice to have some creative legs around the place.

Someone like Timur Tutierov at Sunderland would fit the bill, and as a Ukrainian Under 21, there is a nice Ivan Varfolomeev link there as well. Errol Mundle-Smith from Norwich would be another who might be considered, especially as Norwich surely trust us to develop players.
