Lewis Montsma’s story at City is a good one. He’s battled back from two serious injuries, and I was there against Arsenal Under 21s when he came out to such a great ovation. He’s well-liked here and penned a new deal a year ago, but it just feels like the journey is coming to an end.

He’s 27 now, and he’s going to want some first-team football. He’s not going to get that at City, and I think the late Salford goal underlined that our style of play has moved on, and we need something different from our centre-halves.

I’ve heard things like ‘League Two’ mentioned, but I think you’re more likely to see him go to the Netherlands or Italy, perhaps where the lower divisions are a little less physical, so the toll of those two ACL injuries is not quite as telling.
