Williams Gutted as Swindon End Posh Trophy Defence

Peterborough United boss Luke Williams says his team lacked sharpness at the decisive moments as they exited the Vertu Trophy in a 1-0 defeat at Swindon Town.

Ollie Clarke struck late for the hosts after Posh failed to convert a series of promising situations, with Williams frustrated by the failure to take advantage of sustained pressure.

“We created enough to win the game, but it does not matter if you do not take the chances. We switched off in the dying minutes and that has cost us. I am gutted to go out of this tonight.”

Williams acknowledged improvement compared with recent first halves against Doncaster and Stevenage, but says his side are still battling for consistency across ninety minutes.
