Vale Boss Praises Unity After Dominant Trophy Win
Port Vale manager Darren Moore says the 5-0 victory over Barnsley in the Vertu Trophy reflects a squad that remains fully together despite league struggles.
Two early goals from Ruari Paton set up the win before Dajaune Brown, Ben Waine and Jesse Debrah added gloss late on. Vale have not won in the league since September, but Moore insists that performance levels have not collapsed and that the group continues to work for each other.
“Hopefully when I said we were still together as a group, that showed. It was about rotating the team and trusting the boys to perform. The only difference from other performances was that we scored.”
Vale move into the last 16 of the Trophy and now prepare for the FA Cup home tie against Bristol Rovers, hoping to translate cup form back into League One.
