Nolan Urges Northampton Fans to Drop Sack Chant
Northampton Town boss Kevin Nolan has asked supporters to avoid chants directed at under-pressure opposing managers following the 3-0 win away at Plymouth Argyle.
Cobblers fans were heard singing about Tom Cleverley potentially losing his job during the second half, a chant that some Plymouth supporters also joined in with. Nolan praised the travelling support but made clear he does not want such chants associated with his team.
“I did not like our fans singing sacked in the morning. I hate that chant, so I would ask our fans to please not sing it for me and not to sing about other managers.
“Clevs is a good lad and a good manager and I hope he gets the chance to turn it around.”
Forward Elliott List echoed the sentiment, noting that while football is ruthless, it is never pleasant to see a manager under that level of scrutiny.
