Huddersfield Town: Dion Charles ends drought with brace and targets lift-off

Dion Charles says ending his Huddersfield Town goal drought has lifted a weight after the striker scored twice in a 3-1 Vertu Trophy win over Mansfield Town.

The 30-year-old had gone 27 appearances without a goal since joining from Bolton Wanderers in January.

“I’m delighted I’ve got off the mark finally. It’s been a long time coming… Being a striker, that’s what you’re paid to do – put the ball in the back of the net.”

Charles believes the result can spark momentum ahead of Saturday’s league fixture against Plymouth Argyle.

“We know results haven’t gone our way recently but that will give us some confidence… Now I can kick on and show everyone what I can really do.”
