Ian Pearce

Ian Pearce began his professional career at Chelsea, debuting as a teenager in 1991 before moving to Blackburn Rovers in 1993. He was part of Kenny Dalglish’s title-winning squad in 1994–95, forming a solid defensive partnership with Colin Hendry as Rovers won the Premier League.
In 1997 he joined West Ham United for £2.3 million. He was a regular at Upton Park, making over 140 league appearances and finishing as runner-up in the 1999 Hammer of the Year award. However, a serious knee injury disrupted his progress, ruling him out for more than a year. Despite these setbacks, he re-established himself and became a key figure again in the early 2000s.
Pearce switched to Fulham in 2004, where he was praised by Chris Coleman for his professionalism. He contributed 57 league appearances and famously scored an equaliser while playing through injury in a draw with Portsmouth. He also had a brief loan at Southampton before dropping back into non-league football.

In October 2009, Pearce signed for Lincoln City, combining his role as assistant manager under Chris Sutton with a short playing spell. He came to Lincoln at the very tail end of his career as Sutton’s assistant, but he also registered as a player to help our survival fight.
He was certainly willing to fight for the cause after being sent off as an unused sub during a mass brawl on the touchline of our November 2009 clash with Cheltenham Town. Alongside Sutton he helped keep us in League Two, but left when Sutton did shortly after the next season started.
After Lincoln, Pearce featured again for Kingstonian and also played for Lingfield. Away from the pitch, he moved into scouting and recruitment, working with Brighton & Hove Albion before becoming Head of Recruitment at West Bromwich Albion.
