Tendayi Darikwa – 7th
Next up is Tendayi, ranked seventh in the ‘best lateral defenders’ field. This could be drilled down further: he is one of only two right backs on the list, with Kyle Knoyle behind him. The others are either left backs, or left wing backs. However, the field is lateral defending, and so we’ll include him as seventh.
Josh Neufville and Fraser Murray are right wing backs and lead the way, with Max Conway the best full back in a flat back four. Remember, Conway is a player we were heavily rumoured to have been chasing over the summer.
Incidentally, if you drill down to left backs between the ages of 15 and 24, Ryley Towler in fifth. Not bad for a player who prefers central defence.
