Where Are They Now?: Luton Town’s Last Visit To Sincil Bank

Neal Eardley

Eardley was a surprise signing after a trial on the eve of the season, but became dependable on the right-hand side. He was named Player of the Season in 2017/18, and helped us to the title the following season. His final game came in the last match prior to Covid, a 3-2 win against Burton, before he left with 140 appearances to his name.

He moved to Burton, but after a handful of matches, went to Barrow on loan and later Connah’s Quay Nomads. Since 2022, he has been a Professional Development Phase Coach at Blackpool.

Sean Raggett was the breakout star of our National League season, securing a move to Championship outfit Norwich City. He came back on loan and was completing that loan when we played Luton.

He spent three years at Norwich, appearing twice, but had loan spells with Rotherham and Portsmouth. A serious injury curtailed his progression, but he established himself at Pompey, playing 227 times, before a move to Rotherham United last season.

Billy Knott

Billy was a talented boy, but he never really achieved the heights we’d hoped. At this stage, he was still looking good, but played on the left, rather than in his favoured ten. A few weeks later, he was dismissed against Notts County, and it all came apart from there.

He’s confessed to battling personal demons since, and has had a varied playing career across the likes of Concord Rangers, Chelmsford City, Bowers & Pitsea, Billericay Town, Canvey Island, Great Wakering Rovers, Southend Manor, Erith Town, Margate, Barking, and most recently, Saffron Walden Town.
