Alan Power was a stalwart of the Imps’ lowest ebb. He was more of a bit part player under Danny and Nicky, but his solid service should always be remembered.

Power’s league goal tally is impressive for a midfielder whose primary job wasn’t to get forward. Across hundreds of appearances, he chipped in regularly with long-range strikes, penalties, and late runs into the box. But his value went far beyond goals—he captained the club through thick and thin and is one of the few players who genuinely bridged two eras of Lincoln City.

Tomlinson was never short of effort—and thankfully, never short of goals either. In a team often short on quality, his 32 league goals stood out like a beacon, even in the third tier. When he left, it was for the Football League, and nobody could begrudge him that.

What is even more remarkable is he often appeared out wide, and may have had more if he’d played more regularly through the centre. He was the sort of player who never let defenders settle, scrapping for every chance and always ready to pounce on a mistake.

He was a rare bright spark in a difficult time for the club.
