Here’s a case study in inflated expectation. One season, we had Morgan Whittaker, and Plymouth had Jordon Garrick. In the following campaign, we got Garrick and they got Whittaker. Some fans thought we’d won.
We hadn’t.
Sixteen games, one League Cup goal, and little else. His strength and pace hinted at potential, but he never imposed himself. He looked more like a makeshift place holder than the dynamic forward we needed. Since leaving us, he’s appeared for Forest Green, dipped into the National League, and proved our hunch correct: all promise, no punch.
