2018/19
Hit – Mark O’Hara
Miss – Lee Angol
Window Rating – 4/10

In our League Two title-winning season, we were active in the transfer window, but on reflection, it wasn’t a great one. Two players arrived on permanent deals, Matt Gilks and Cian Bolger, whilst James Brown, Mark O’Hara, Lee Angol, Danny Rowe and Jordan Roberts came in on loan. The intent was clear – bolster the squad to cover possible injuries and ensure we lifted the trophy. We did, but the players who came in player minimal roles.
Mark O’Hara got plenty of minutes and he gets my pick as the hit of that window. Matt Gilks filled a role, but the other loan players didn’t have much impact at all. O’Hara bagged a crucial goal against Yeovil and of all the incoming, he impacted the team most in the short term.

The flops were numerous; Jordan Roberts didn’t really get much action, James Brown didn’t get a kick, and at the end-of-season dinner awards, I couldn’t have identified him if he stood next to me at the bar. I’d have to say Lee Angol was the biggest miss, but through no fault of his own. All window, there was talk of Danny Hylton coming, which was never going to happen, so when a player who’d turned us down for Mansfield arrived, it wasn’t warmly received. he barely got any minutes, but does have the distinction of picking up two title medals with the Imps.
