Finally, we come to a man who almost got my vote – Tayo Edun. I’ve seen some touted him as a possible ‘Most Improved Player of the Season’, but that won’t happen, mainly because we don’t hand that award out, but also because it suggests you were shit at the start. Tayo wasn’t, but he has grown through the season, having arrived as a midfielder. I loved him from the second I saw him against Blackpool last season, but he went on something of a journey over the summer, and started behind the other lads. I couldn’t see where he’d fit – a slick and cultured man on the ball, but fifth in the midfield pecking order and, given Sean Roughan’s start, maybe even third as a left back. Now, you find a place for him, regardless.

Okay, his start at left-back wasn’t entirely convincing, but he just got better and better until he arrived where we see him now, a fully-fledged overlapping defender with awareness and foresight not to leave gaps. When he plays in midfield, he brings the quality you usually see from Grant, certainly in his ball control if not entirely his distribution. What is really exciting with Tayo is that he is only 22, and has shown the sort of form that is bound to have bigger clubs looking very, very soon.
