I genuinely think it is hard to look beyond Jorge Grant for Player of the Season, with 12 League One goals and seven assists, but I don’t think it is as cut and dried as it has been in previous seasons. Grant is an obvious talisman for us, a player who signed for us with a point to prove and, almost two seasons later, has proved it with aplomb. He became a trusted Michael Appleton lieutenant last season, and the fact he is one of only two players remaining at the club from the day Michael walked in proves his progress and ability.

A ‘footballer’ as my Dad would say, Grant has been graceful and elegant on the ball, hard-working and committed off it. We just look better with him in the team and I strongly suspect that he will get the nod for the Vic Withers Trophy, although he will have stiff competition.
