Lincoln City’s Early January Signing – Who Could It Be?

Ademipo Odubeko

Ademipo Odubeko | West Ham United

Here is a player who, like Morgan Rogers, would be a massive coup. He’s been injured of late, something which might have set him back a little in his quest for a first-team place at West Ham, and might leave him looking for a move to gain experience. There are a couple of factors here which set the ‘Imps signing’ klaxon going. Firstly, we have already dealt with West Ham both in terms of loans (Conor Coventry) and a permanent deal (Anthony Scully). Secondly, Odubenko is Irish and has been capped at youth level for them. He is a big talent though – he tore up Manchester United’s Under 18 side with 35 goals before moving to London and bagged two on his senior debut for West Ham Under 21s against Southend in the EFL Trophy.

Mipo, as he is known, has a bit of everything. He’s quick and powerful, a traditional number nine who has been likened in terms of finishing prowess to Jermaine Defoe, although bigger and more obvious as a possible target man. He is believed to be closing in on the West Ham first team, but so was Conor Coventry, and look what happened there. he came to us, got senior experience and went back to West Ham arguably better for it.
