Scott Kashket
The Wycombe striker is out of contract at the end of the season and although his goals ratio doesn’t look great, I think he’s one who could have a big future under the right circumstances.
He’s had his injury problems, something that might put other clubs off but as we know, that’s Danny’s bread and butter. Neal Eardley had his injury problems, Michael O’Connor too and in successive seasons they’ve both gone on to be key players. Kashket got 16 in 29 during his first season with Wycombe, for me showing the huge potential he has. He’s only 23 now, so to reap those sorts of numbers just out of his teens was an incredible effort.
Last season, as the Chairboys were promoted he got one goal in nine outings, but only gained fitness in the early part of the year.
This season he’s ‘only’ bagged six in 33, but it’s his first season as a League One regular and it’s been playing in the rather unique tactical set up at Adams Park. I’m not convinced his low goals tally is a fair reflection of his ability overall.
He’s from the south of England and previously played for Orient and Welling, so I think he’ll be well-known to Danny, Nicky and Danny’s Dad. I feel there’s real potential here and given his low goals tally this season and his injury issues, he could be affordable. Every season a player surprises everyone by finding the right club at the right time, Kashket’s might be us in 2019/2020.
