No Thanks: Nick Wright
You remember Nick Wright, right?
Six-foot striker who made a name for himself with prolific spells at Tamworth and then Kidderminster? Averaged a goal every three games in spells across the two clubs? No?
Whilst playing for Tamworth he scored the goal that earned them promotion to the top flight of non-league football. Scored a ten-minute hat trick after coming on as a sub for Kidderminster against Newport County to earn them a 3-2 win after being 2-0 down with four minutes of normal time left too.
His exploits with the Harriers earned him a move to promotion hopefuls Mansfield Town. He was a bit-part player as Paul Cox led The Stags to the Football League and he joined Lincoln looking to rebuild his career.
It never happened for him at Lincoln either as he struggled to nail down a place in the team. He scored just twice, once against his former employers Kidderminster and once against Alfreton in a 4-1 Imps win. He eventually signed for Kidderminster again in March 2014 on loan, scoring once.
Basically, Cox sold us a turkey. There’s a surprise.
