The Imps broke yet another long-standing record this weekend, thrashing Port Vale 6-2 on their own ground in front of 1165 travelling fans.
Firstly, it became the biggest victory at Vale Park since August when we recorded our biggest victory at Vale Park. The 6-2 score line left us with a margin of four goals, technically meaning we equalled our own record. Some might think four goals and a clean sheet is the better result, personally I think six goals and a dodgy penalty from a slightly overweight referee was the better one.

The other record, more tangible by far, is the one which has lasted since January 1932, the last time we scored six in an away fixture. That is remarkable, but testament to the size of the achievement. How often does anyone score six away from home? Not very is the answer.
No, the result was resounding, comprehensive but anything other than freak. Our domination of a side such as Vale has been coming for some time and if the form book remain true we could see something similar against Cambridge this weekend. They’re on their arses, struggling badly away from home and have conceded three or more on six occasions this season. More on that as the week progresses.
This article isn’t intending to be a look ahead, but a look back. The huge win brought many smiles and slaps on the back, but as ever there are winners and losers coming out of the game. Here, in a GALLERY ARTICLE, we look at three who can be delighted with the outcome and three who perhaps won’t be as pleased.
