Winner: Scott Wharton

When you’re out of the side, what you need is a chance and the ability to take that chance. The Blackburn loanee did just that, turning in a competent and measured performance as well as banging in one of the goals.
His thumping header was something we’ve seen from many centre halves across the Cowley’s tenure as manager, but it had an extra thump to it. Wharton wanted that as much as anyone, a redemption of sorts that reminded everyone he didn’t come here to play second fiddle to Jason Shackell.
Is that a selection headache I smell? Shackell or Wharton, Wharton or Shackell?
Loser: Lee Frecklington

As Freck broke through on goal you felt it was going to be 2-0, job done. His lofted effort may have bounced just wide, but his stop start season continued with the follow through.
Was it a red card? Maybe not. Was it a foul? Absolutely and therefore a penalty too. Instead, referee Brett Huxtable gave nothing and Freck went off at half time injured.
After a good start to the season it is another set back for our captain and it might mean a spell on the side lines, this time forced by fitness not suspension. With the Imps in the ascendency it is the last thing he needed right not.
