5-A-Side team Composed Of Former Lincoln City & Port Vale Players

Okay, so it’s a way of presenting the ‘they played for both’ articles that isn’t the same as all of the others!

I’ve trawled the archives to try to find a good 5-a-side team that features players only to have played for Port Vale and Lincoln City. They might have been good for one and not the other, but this is the best I can come up with.

Let me know if I have left anyone out!

Joe Anyon is one of the more interesting links between Port Vale and us, rising from their youth ranks to play more than one hundred games before a serious leg break stalled his progress. After spells on loan in non-league, he rebuilt his career well enough to earn a move to us in 2010.

Even as the 2010/11 season unravelled, he stood firm and became our Player of the Season, one of the few bright spots in a tough campaign. Later chapters with Shrewsbury Town, Scunthorpe United, Chesterfield and Chorley filled out a long career.

  1. Chris Herd! There’s a player I had forgotten about, he looked like he had a big future ahead of him when he had his loan spell with us (Vale), obviously injuries took their toll and it never really happened for him. Ainsworth and Dodds, both legends at Vale Park. Saturday should be an easy three points for you, we are dire right now – haven’t scored a single goal in our last 6 league games, heads drops as soon as we concede.
