Steve Mardenborough
Mardenborough was a well-travelled forward whose career included spells with both the Imps and Cardiff City. He joined Cardiff in 1987 after productive periods with Swansea City and Newport County, making 32 league appearances during a single season in south Wales. His time at Ninian Park proved brief, with limited goals, and he moved on the following year as his career continued across the Football League.
Mardenborough arrived at Lincoln City in 1993 under Keith Alexander, joining an Imps side going through a difficult period. He made 21 league appearances during the 1993-94 season, scoring twice, including goals against Chester and Colchester. Although used regularly, his stay at Sincil Bank lasted just one campaign.
Earlier in his career, he had featured for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Swansea City and Newport County, while Darlington was his longest spell, where he played more than 100 times. After leaving Lincoln, he moved into non-league and Welsh football, enjoying extended spells with Inter Cardiff and Aberystwyth Town before retiring.
