Gavin Gordon
Gordon joined Lincoln from Hull City in November 1997 for £30,000 and quickly became an important figure under John Beck. A powerful and mobile forward, Gordon made 99 league appearances for the Imps, scoring 29 goals and playing his part in their 1997-98 automatic promotion campaign. His most prolific spell came after relegation, when his goalscoring improved markedly, including a strong first half of the 2000-01 season.
Those performances attracted Cardiff City, who signed him in December 2000. Gordon scored on his Cardiff debut in January 2001, but his time in south Wales was disrupted by persistent injury problems, limiting him to 50 league appearances and six league goals. He famously smashed five in a single cup game against Rushden and Diamonds, making him a cult hero in Wales. After Cardiff, he had spells with Oxford United on loan and Notts County before moving into non-league football, bringing his professional career to a close.
