Brendan Bradley
Born in Derry, Bradley struggled to establish himself at his hometown club before joining Finn Harps for £100 in 1969. Playing in their first-ever top division season, he finished as league top scorer with 18 goals, repeating the feat the following year with 20. City signed him in 1972 on the recommendation of Jimmy McGeough, and Bradley made an immediate impact, scoring seven goals in five successive games. He finished with 12 league goals in 31 appearances before returning to Finn Harps in March 1973, reportedly due to homesickness.
Back in Ireland, his career exploded. Bradley helped Finn Harps win the FAI Cup in 1974 and became league top scorer four times, including a remarkable 29 goals in 26 games during the 1975-76 season, a record that stood for decades. He retired with 247 league goals in 425 appearances, a tally made even more extraordinary by the fact that he worked full-time as a painter and decorator throughout his career.
