Blackpool Boss Clarifies Scott Banks Selection After Reading Defeat
Blackpool head coach Ian Evatt says Scott Banks remains a key talent despite limited minutes in the 3-0 loss to Reading.
Banks, on loan from St Pauli and previously with Bradford City, came on for only the final ten minutes and has struggled to secure consistent starts since Evatt reinstated a wing back system. The head coach made clear there is no personal issue, only tactical demands. He said:
“It is not just Scott. There are loads of players who feel they should be playing. You get chances in training to show why you should be in the team.”
Evatt added that Banks was recruited for a different shape under Steve Bruce and is still adjusting. He insisted the 24 year old can fit into the new framework but admitted he is one of the unfortunate ones who has been affected most by the stylistic change.
Blackpool have taken one point from their last three matches and Evatt acknowledged the team mentally fell to pieces once they conceded against Reading.
