Reading Await Marriott News as Injury Concerns Continue
Reading remain without striker Jack Marriott as uncertainty continues over his recovery from a hamstring injury.
Marriott, who joined from Wrexham late in the summer window, scored in five consecutive League One matches before being forced off at Cardiff. His absence has been felt severely, with Reading scoring only four times since his last appearance.
Marriott has not yet featured under new manager Leam Richardson, who has avoided giving specific timelines on the injuries within his squad. The manager did recently acknowledge that a couple of players had suffered setbacks in their rehabilitation but declined to identify them.
“There’s a couple who have had a few setbacks as well, which I’d rather not say and put the lads under pressure,”
Richardson said when asked for an update. The continued lack of clarity has split opinion among fans, with some calling for greater transparency and others supporting the manager’s approach as a way of protecting the squad from external pressure.
Reading sit just above the relegation places as they head to Blackpool on Saturday. Their opponents are also battling at the bottom of the table under new manager Ian Evatt, who replaced Steve Bruce last month.
