Matty Virtue

I do find it hard to pick anyone out of the full Kennedy season; it was a campaign devoid of any real fun.
However, rarely do I ever hear the Virtue’s name mentioned. He was here, he did well, and then he went and nobody really complained. Bearing in mind he missed two months of the season, his return of four goals and an assist from midfield was fairly decent.
He won 52% of his duels, showed decent composure on the ball, and played more forward passes than backwards and lateral (known to the guy somewhere behind me as ‘not effing sideways again).
I’m not saying Matty Virtue tore trees up while he was here, but I am saying that in the grand scheme of things, we’ve had far worse, and his impact was perhaps greater than the imprint it left.
That said, he did play at Chippenham, so I guess it’s swings and roundabouts.
