Tom Hopper

I’ll die on this hill. I will, you’ve been warned.
Tom Hopper didn’t always get a lot of love from City fans; he wasn’t a lethal finisher, and he did ‘only’ get ten in the 2020/21 play-off season. Mind you, he got four assists as well, so 14 goal involvements from just 33 starts. Worth mentioning, maybe, that Brennan Johnson had 15 goal involvements from 38 starts.
Just saying.
Injuries perhaps sullied his legacy a little – he missed a small chunk of that promotion chasing team, and had he been fit for 46 games, perhaps we’d have kept on course for the top two. The following season he was out from September to February, so he never really got going, and in 2022/23, he was playing Kennedy-ball, a shot-shy version of the game we know as football. In 14 starts, and with a two month spell out injured, he managed five goals, including a brace on his final outing.
Underrated, I’m telling you.
