6. Ben Hutchinson – 40 apps, 4 goals

On paper, 40 appearances and four goals sound acceptable, but the former Middlesbrough and Celtic youngster was a major disappointment. Often selfish in possession and lacking end product, Hutchinson struggled to justify his regular inclusion under Sutton and Tilson, despite a strong showing against us for Celtic in a pre-season friendly.
I’m sure there are worse players, but the fact that he came in the relegation season and was a squad filler is one reason he is on the list. The other? He admitted abusing fans during a defeat against Northampton. He reacted to being booed, and is believed to have called some supporters ‘the worst fans in the world’.
5. Matthew Ghent – 2 apps, 0 goals
Signed on loan from Aston Villa in 2001, goalkeeper Ghent has become infamous not only for his loan spell, but also his post-football exploits. I’m not here to condemn the man for his crimes, a judge has already done that. I’m here for the Lincoln, and in that respect, he has to make the list.
The weirdest thing is, for 90 minutes, he had a stormer for City. He came on for the injured Alan Marriott in a league game, then got Man of the Match in the cup against Dagenham. Sadly, as the award was read out, he dropped a massive howler that saw us beaten by the non-league side.
That was that. Chris Day took over in the sticks, and Ghent went about his business.
