Player of the Year – Tendayi Darikwa (7.01)

I always find this fascinating because sometimes, adding up scores often produces winners you wouldn’t expect. We’ve seen you rate Adam Jackson highest in 22/23, whilst in the first season we did this, the season of Brennan Johnson and Morgan Rogers, you gave this award to Conor McGrandles.
This season, there’s no surprises. Sean Roughan was second, Paudie O’Connor third and James Collins fourth, which was more or less the same as the nominations outside of the site (Jovon perhaps harshly not there). However, the winner, Tendayi Darikwa, has been pretty unanimous across all platforms.

He took Player’s Player of the Year, Supporter’s Player of the Year and here he is, top of the ratings given out game after game, week after week. No hyperbole, no recency bias, just a really good footballer influencing us on and off the field.
Let’s not forget, as well as his solid defensive work and his experience seeping into our young players, he also started 44 games in the league, the second most of any outfield player, and he has nine goal involvements, five goals and four assists. That’s more than some of our attacking players!
Tendayi Darikwa, you deserve Player of the Season without a shadow of a doubt.
