Jack Mulhall xG Award – Bailey Cadamarteri +2.64

This award is given to the player who has scored more goals than xG suggests he has. Jack Mulhall loves a bit of xG, but a special mention to my mate Pete ‘It’s Not a Stat’ Summers, who will doubtless have something to say. Basically, if a player has an expected goals (xG) of 3.14, and he actually scores four, he’s outperformed his xG and is therefore in line for the award.

Erik Ring and Tendayi Darikwa were right up there this time out, but it’s our loanee, Bailey Cadamarteri, who is the surprise winner. I say surprise, because I hadn’t really viewed him as a great signing, but it turns out, he didn’t do badly at all.

He scored eight goals, but xG suggests he should only have had 5.36, making him the winner of the Jack Mulhall award. What’s really odd is that one of the worst performers this season was Jack Moylan, with three goals but five xG. Last year, he won the award. That reflects last year, when Ted Bishop was worst, after winning the year before!
